Clerkenwellbeing’s very own pregnancy and postnatal yoga teacher Simone Matus, a trainee Birth Doula, is offering her pregnancy and birth support services to expectant parents at a discounted rate, starting from £250. Any provision between now and when she qualifies on 1st August 2018 is under the mentorship of her tutors.
What is a Doula?
Doulas support women, their partners and families throughout pregnancy, labour, birth and beyond, in whatever form these may take. The type of support provided is tailored according to the needs of the expectant mother and her baby, as well as her partner or family members if she chooses.
Birth Doulas provide ongoing support throughout pregnancy, labour and birth, as well as the immediate postnatal time. Postnatal Doulas provide flexible practical and emotional postnatal support for new mothers and families in their own homes. Some Doulas provide both birth and postnatal support, while others choose to specialise in one area. They do not take a medical role in the pregnancy, birth or postnatal phases.

Simone’s yoga for expectant or recent mothers
Simone’s Mum & Baby postnatal yoga class takes place at 178 Goswell Rd on Tuesday mornings at 10.00 and her Pregnancy yoga class is on Thursday evenings at 6.15pm.
Through her classes she hopes to pass on the knowledge and inspiration for having a fit and happy pregnancy and a calm and relaxed labour, while creating a space for mums-to-be to focus on their own and their baby’s wellbeing by using yoga as a way to nurture and calm the mind and body, and stay strong and flexible during pregnancy and after birth.
Her Mum & Baby postnatal yoga class is specifically designed to help new mothers get back into their bodies after birth. It also enables them to spend quality time with their babies in an open and safe environment. Postnatal yoga aids with the knitting back together of the inner core, firming up the pelvic floor and releasing some of the tension in the body built up during pregnancy and after birth. Babies are included in the practice and time is dedicated to activities that aid with their early development.
Simone also teaches a Deep Vinyasa class on Thursdays at 19.30, suitable for those with experience and who want to deepen their practice.
