Yoga Teacher, Meditation leader, Reiki master teacher, integrated Myofascial practitioner, Sports & Remedial Massage therapist, and Honey Healing Method practitioner.
Tim has been one of the team of Massage Therapists working in the Islington & Clerkenwell Chiropractic Clinics since 2010. He specialises in Myofascial Release and Sports & Remedial Massage and is a fully trained Yoga Teacher. Prior to working as a Body Worker, Tim worked in IT in the Telecoms sector, so is very aware on how our sedentary lives can impact our bodies and the importance of getting moving.
Yoga has been an intermittent part of Tim’s life for over 35 years starting at his junior school where a teacher introduced him to it and he has dipped into it ever since. He has been more consistent with his yoga practice since 2011 when he started working with Bridget Thornborrow when she started teaching at the clinic. He particularly loves the style of yoga inspired by Vanda Scaravelli and Mary Stewart. In 2017 he finished his 2 year (500 hour) Yoga Teaching Training course with the LYTTG (London Yoga Teacher Training Group). He is a member of the British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) and the LYTTG is an accredited BWY course.
Tim teaches yoga on Mondays at 12.15, and leads a Meditation group on Mondays at 13.00. His classes are aimed at helping reduce the amount of tension we can carry unconsciously within our bodies. The aim is less about creating shapes but moving with care and intention towards the poses, but finding ways to pause at the limits of our comfort. The meditation group he leads is aimed at providing a period of calm using meditation techniques, being a shorter class it is ideal for people who think they can’t meditate, as well more seasoned practitioners.
Tim originally trained as a Sport and Remedial Massage Therapist with the LSSM (London School of Sports Massage) in 2009. He is a member of the Institute of Sport and Remedial Massage and is registered with the Complementary & Natural Health Council.
Tim is an integrated Myofascial therapist. He studied with Myofascial Release UK and was one of the first to pass their Advanced Clinical Diploma in Integrated Myofascial Therapy (with distinction); they regularly ask him to assist teaching on their Diploma courses. The restrictions that MFR clears to reduce pain and increase movement frequently have an emotional element to them, so Tim finds this subject fascinating and a wonderful bridge between the body and mind.
Tim is a Reiki Master/Teacher, and is a member of the UK Reiki Federation. He believes that Reiki offers considerable benefits in a stressful world and that its energy work can help in many ways to balance the body and mind.
He was trained for Emotional Realignment Therapy (ERT) and its successor The Honey Healing Method by its creator, J.E. Honey. They are both revolutionary approaches using subtle energies to permanently clearing emotional blocks and the issues that are caused by these blockages in a person’s energy body.
