Embodied Presence; Enstatic Dance Practice and Trainings
Jamus teaches dance and movement nationally and internationally. Inspired by the anatomy of the body and a somatic approach to teaching embodiment, ‘wholeness’, ‘heart’, and the ‘instinctual body’ are the foundation principals of his work.
Jamus says, “I teach and guide classes in movement, contact improvisation, somatic yoga and perform professionally with the Touch Down Dance Company. Unusually, my path has been defined by a congenital eye condition – I almost lost my sight 10 years ago. Seven operations on, my sight is improving. I have found ways to transform this condition into a unique gift.”
Lee works with movement and dance as an enquiry into the present moment. Fascinated by dance as a metaphor for life she has used contact improvisation, somatic movement and non-stylised movement as a vehicles to explore on the dance floor life with freshness moment to moment.
Lee has taught in the UK and Europe offering a space for students to explore their internal felt sense as a way to find spontaneity and a sense of embodiment. Latterly she is following her own personal interest using the same principles to explore the moving female body.
Jamus and Lee teach a fortnightly dance class inviting you to move towards yourself. Using somatic warm-up to explore breath, muscle, emotion and thought moving though our bodies, we drop into a sense of awareness. We move moment-to-moment, responding with freshness.
We use a combination of music and held space to invite you more deeply into your own movement. This is about experiencing your aliveness, vitality and spontaneity completely present to this moment.
An Enstatic body is one that is authentically inhabited, one in which joy and love are easily accessed instead of ‘disassociating’ from our body. This is to find a feeling of joy; we travel inside the body ‘to stand inside the self’.
