Zoe discovered yoga when she moved to London from the North East of England 13 years ago. Ever since, she has been amazed by the healing and transformative power that yoga can have on any individual regardless of age, strength or flexibility. She truly believes that as long as you can breathe you can do yoga. To underline this belief, Zoe’s yogic motto is “yoga anytime, anywhere”.
Zoe trained with Lalit Kumar in India studying Ashtanga and Hatha yoga with Iyengar alignment. She continues to develop her teaching skills by studying under incredible and inspirational yogis including Kino McGregor, Claire Missingham, Jason Crandell and Nadia Narain.
Drawing from the many different types of yoga, Zoe brings a fusion of styles into her practice. She is fully trained in pregnancy, postnatal and baby yoga where she aims to empower women through these amazing phases of their life.
Mother & Baby Yoga
Birthing a baby is emotionally and physically challenging. With so many things going on with your body and mind a postnatal yoga class can be the perfect place to acknowledge and accept the changes. The sessions can be carried out from immediately after birth and are tailored depending on how soon after birth it takes place.
Through a postnatal yoga practice you will:
- Safely close the body
- Bring the abdominal muscles back together
- Realign the pelvis
- Encourage the correct placement of your internal organs
- Begin to heal your body by re-engaging with your pelvic floor
- Learn relaxation techniques to help you calm down and sleep
- Calm your baby through meditation and connection
Although the class focuses mainly on you as a new mum, your baby will be right there beside you and the session is structured so that your baby is part of the class too.
Zoe offers postnatal classes in groups as well as privately.
Pregnancy is a special time for both the expecting mother and her unborn infant. Prenatal yoga is ideal for helping you to connect with your breath and your baby while accepting and embracing the constant changes that are happening to your body.
This is achieved by learning a variety of breathing techniques and by combining gentle stretching exercises with strengthening asanas, particularly focusing on the legs, which will help you to find comfortable positions during pregnancy and birth.
You’ll be encouraged to focus on breathing slowly and deeply in order to promote relaxation and to help reduce stress. Not only is this great for improving circulation, which benefits both yourself and your growing baby, it will also be enormously beneficial during the birth itself. The more you practice breathing exercises during pregnancy, the more you train yourself to relax and are more likely you are to breath deeply, keep calm and work through contractions during labour.
The class can also help to relieve fatigue and provide renewed energy, which is great if your energy levels are low.
Zoe offers pregnancy yoga classes and is available for 1-1 or small group sessions.
“I started doing antenatal yoga with Zoe at 18 weeks pregnant with the aim of improving my posture and relieving some of my pregnancy aches and pains as I had been having real problems with my lower back since early in my pregnancy.
